Hondo, that was a case of dyslexia... 67. I found a color brightness scale on a link from the pcgs website. The next time I fire up the laptop I'll paste it here. Using the wife's android tablet right now, and I speak ipad...
I put it in the folder.

Here are some more pictures, I took them in the sunlight by the window.

Looks like I need to work on my photography skills.

Good morning, I came across this penny while filling folders last night.
The red brightness matches the MS 76 when I hold it next to the chart, but there are a couple scratches or smudges on the front. Two of the pictures are with the light off on the iPhone.

1960 Penny, Red With A Sharp Obverse Rim

I found this one while working on filling folders. Day two of putting all the coins into the folders.
It's in pretty decent shape for a 1960, I can see a few nicks in the cheek. the obverse rim feels very defined and a little sharp. holding it next to a penny coloring chart, it looks to be around a 63-64 red. pretty sure it wouldn't grade that well. I can see black carbon pieces on it.
Any idea of an approximate grade, and a recommendation for a better camera microscope/viewer? Mine is mediocre and I'm getting better pictures with my iPhone...

Found my first BIE on a 1957 D penny. Been filling in my new coin books tonight.

More coin folders came today, I'll start with the Wheaties tonight. I figure I'll learn a lot from this forum.

I'm thinking copper. It weighed in at 3.07g. I do a lot of reloading ammo, it's a really good scale. On the other hand, my camera/microscope/viewer is mediocre at best. Would you have any recommendations?

I'll retake the picture of the reverse in the morning, and get the micrometer out and check.

It's already back in the "spend" jar.

No, the reverse looks the way it's supposed too. It's not rotated either.
The picture I took was too large of KB to load.

Thanks for the quickest reply I've ever had. Now, if I could just get comments on my aviation forums this quick...

I didn't think I could get lucky with this one. Still, this has been a fun month learning a lot about coins. Thank you.

I got this one out of a roll of coins today, it looks like it's slightly misaligned on the obverse side. Plus the ring of death starting to make itself known. Nothing out of the ordinary on the reverse side.
I've seen dimes and nickels like this, but never on a dollar coin before. Comments?

Hello, I'm enjoying my new hobby. A chance to slow down a little.
I'm going through about 10 years of coins that I've save up over the years and found this one. I'm thinking it may be a small date copper 1982. I can't tell if it's a D mint mark or a gouge in the cladding. It weighs out at 3.07g. The back side is in worse shape. Yes, I'm the guy that picks up pennies when I walk through parking lots.... :)

My name is Russ and just starting out collecting and searching through coins. This might be become my secondary hobby, I'm running out of room building model airplanes. I have over 300 built and a stash of 200 plus to go. I'm supposed to be retired, but in real life I'm usually just tired. I retired from the army with 27 years and currently a farmer. I work on airplanes on the side. Coin searching will keep me indoors over the winter.... LOL
