Why is this dime completely black and almost perfect. There is no silver on it (though there is a shine in the pictures) There's really no damage or rough spots. It weighs 2.24 grams. Is this a cousin to the black beauty nickle? That seems to be the closest I've found..
My son wanted me to check this coin with all of you. He has no idea what is wrong, and honestly I thought it was a sharpie mark ( I may sacrifice a coin for this theory) But I looked and the only thing I could find similar was missing clad.. but it doesn't seem to be it either...
I have a 1982 penny weighing in at 2.5 g#699;rams. I don't think it's a small date, but my batting average is low.. Here is the picture of the date. That black shadow makes the numbers look a bit thicker. Am I wrong, again? I can post pictures of the whole coin I needed.
I've been staring at this date for an hour now. I need fresh eyes. What do you think. I think it's a 42... but maybe over 1? To my great annoyance it doesn't seem it was struck hard enough...
