Hello,

I am new to the World Coin Forum. I have a bunch of coins from around the world that my husband had in a container. I know literally nothing about them, but am slowly trying to research some of them.

This coin appears to be in pretty bad shape. A lot of detail is smooshed. It weighs 9.22 grams.

Any insight on it's condition and whether it is worth hanging on to, would be appreciated.

Thanks so much.

Thank you Spence, I will look into that website. I have a bag of tokens of all different kinds. I will have to see if there is anything else a bit interesting.

Hello,

This is my first time submitting under the Token forum, so if this is the wrong place, please re-direct me.

I found this coin in my husband's collection of foreign and odd coins. I tried to research it some through this site and on the web, but was having trouble finding out anything about it. I believe it is just a token, but was unsure what type of metals it was made out of, and if it would look a bit better with an acetone bath.

It is smooshed a bit on the reverse and the weight is 12.04 grams.

Thank you for your time.

Hello,

Although it is well-circulated, this is my first greaser that had a little more missing than a tiny bit of one letter.

Please, please ignore the reverse. Apparently it was destroyed at some point in its life.

Thank you for taking the time to view.

Hello,

Checking through my 1960 pennies, I came across what I believe to be Variety Vista's 1960-D RPM-033, STAGE F. It was a little hard to take photos of the die scratches, but I marked where some of the more pronounced scratches matched up with Stage F.

Thanks for looking and any opinions are always appreciated, even when I'm wrong or photos are bad.

1979 Lincoln Memorial Reverse Die Abrasion Or Not

Hello,

I came across this 1979 penny and there are scratches between several letters on the reverse. The scratches are also on a bottom corner of the memorial. On some of the letters, it almost looks like the letter is re-etched with the scratches.

I didn't know if this was on purpose or by accident, but it was odd looking. All the lines appear to run the same direction, towards the middle. Is it just over polishing?

The obverse was clear of any of the same.

Thanks for any and all opinions.

Hello,

I have started going through my 1960 pennies. Checking through Variety Vista website, I believe I found the 1961-D RPM 059, Stage E.

Any comments or advise is much appreciated! There were a lot of markers, so hopefully I found them all.

Thanks.

1967 Washington Quarter Possible Die Clash

Hello again,

This quarter was very hard to photograph as the anomalies were not easily seen. I believe it may be a very minor die clash. I am hoping for some verification from the experts.

There were 3 spots that I have circled that I noticed. The first is the eagle's beak down on a slight curve to the left wing. In hand, you can actually see an indent where the color discoloration appears in the photo. I am thinking it's part of Washington's neck.

Second, is the most pronounced area where the leaves from the wreath go over the right wing making it appear like more leaves.

Third is a long indent on the right wing of the eagle. I originally thought it was PMD, (might still be), but now I think this last thing could be the obverse area where Washington's ponytail and back of his neck meet.

I looked at maddieclashes.com to try and figure this out, but realize it could just be a very bad circulated coin. I hope this is not too many photos.

Thank you for any opinions.

Hello,

I found a 1964-D dime spike head with an additional die crack on the reverse.

I believe it matches the one in cuds-on-coins SKH 1964 D-09. My crack on Roosevelt's head is a bit thinner in the closeup than the one listed on cuds-on-coins, but the pattern is the same from what I can see.

If I am wrong, please of course, let me know!

Thanks so much for taking the time to view.

Thank you all for the helpful comments. It's my first struckthru, so a fun find for me.

@lawest, thank you for that link. The rim burr does look a bit like mine.

Hello,

I have this cent I found while separating pennies, and it has a weird gouge on the bottom of the bust. I am not sure if it is just pmd or a possible struck-thru. And if it is a struck-thru, I am very unsure what it could have been. My first thought was a piece of string.

I tried to get as close as possible while staying in focus.

Thank you for viewing and any suggestions you can provide.

Thank you so much! I was so excited. It has a colored hue to it of purple and red. I tried to include a photo with the colors, but couldn't get the right angle.

I didn't clean it, but did use pure acetone to try to get whatever is on the bottom of the bust off, but only for about 2 minutes. I was impatient.

Thanks, again.

Hello,

This is the first cud that I have found. I looked at cuds-on-coins, and believe it is the CU-1c-1981-01.

Just checking on opinions. It's got some bad scratches, which is a shame.

Thanks for looking.

1964-D Quarter-Multiple Lamination Issues

Sickpuppy, Thank you for resonding. I didn't have any indication that I could see that there was a lamination on photo 1 of the obverse.

The reverse close-ups; the first photo of the word "OF," looked originally like die cracks of some sort, but then I wondered if it was the beginning of a lamination.

The eagle's head looked again like die cracks, but then I wondered about the beginning of a lamination.

The 3rd closeup of the eagle's wing, (our left), looked like a die gouge with die cracks below it. That gouge is an indent on the coin. I think it could look like a die chip from that angle. I wondered if it was a lamination where the silver flaked off, if that is possible.

If I need better photos, please let me know. I am really trying hard with my photos and with learning as much as I can.

I appreciate all your welcomes and responses. Hope you all have a nice Friday evening.

Ok, now I just put it in the "search," button and did find some lams on silver, but I guess I am asking if what I have are laminations or abuse from age.

Thanks!

Dearborn, I thought I had read that there were laminations on silver coins, but don't remember where I read that. Perhaps I am wrong.
