Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Received B.A. from Yale University in 1936, BFA in 1940, MFA in 1941. Married to Emily Velona Barringer with four sons. Taught at the Whitney School of Art and Silvermine Guild School of Art. Later he was employed by Laminated Shim Company and Schwab Engraving Company. Employed as sculptor-engraver at the U.S. Mint after 1965. Free lance designer for Medallic Art Company.
