Lots going on with this one, so it is nice to have lots of close-up pics to examine. I'm seeing some what might be Machine Doubling and collar issues, but that giant area on Ike's head is of course the most interesting part. Is the weight within mint specs?

Very nice Struck Through! Definitely a legitimate Struck Through error. I'm not seeing any displaced metal or bulging on the reverse. Seems to have extreme Machine Doubling as well. Also seems to have collar issues as well.

Weight is within the specs--The sides of coin have the copper over lapping the silver part

Should I have Graded or not worth much?

Although some of the letters seem to have Die Deterioration Doubling, I think many of them are affected by slide doubling from a skidding die. It's obvious that there was a major problem with the collar, based on that crazy split reeding. It resembles a partial collar, but both sides have reeds, which is unfamiliar to me. It's definitely cool looking. If it's a legit error coin, it could have a strong value. I think you'd want the opinion of an expert like Mike Diamond before committing to grading or sale.

Lots going on here. An in-collar double strike (second strike with a partially deployed collar). The coin didn't move between strikes. However, the obverse die did move, creating a "one-sided" or "obverse-only" double strike. The reverse shows very strong Machine Doubling. There is, of course, a massive struck-through error on the obverse. I'm not sure why a Brazilian coin is in the mix.

Agree, the one photo that wasn't adding up is the Brazil partial pic, other than that, this is one intense coin. Not sure I am yet grasping how something like this happens at the Mint.

Very interesting mix of errors here.
I wonder since the "E" design can be seen within the struck-through that the struck-through object entered after the initial strike.

CoinHI is right. I didn't spot the flattened E in the floor of the depression. Clearly, the foreign object entered the striking chamber after the first strike.

Well this sure is a crazy looking coin! but it is not a Kennedy half dollar, but rather an Eisenhower dollar (I'll go up and fix that title a bit. This is a very cool find.. Try to not hold this one with your bare fingers to avoid getting fingerprints all over it..

Actually, the doubling on the reverse is more likely to be evidence of a close double strike. Even when the coin doesn't move between strikes, you often see a little bit of doubling in the design. I can't, however, rule out Machine Doubling as a contributing factor.

That is way cool, your friend is lucky. IMO, a slab-worthy candidate.
